UUDECODE, a better UU decoder (obsoletes UUDECODE.EXE on Goodies Disk #3)
Version 5.5, written in Borland C++
Usage: UUDECODE filename.uue --> uu-decoded file is created.
All the files on the Goodies Disks are ready-to-use or are "self-extracting".
However, many HP 48 enthusiasts log onto various "Bulletin Board Systems"
and download HP 48 software into their home computers over the phone from
other computers, or at business & college network computers. Such programs
are almost always in "Unix-to-Unix encoded format" (UU). In order to get
these encoded files into downloadable form, you have to UUdecode them.
Example: You downloaded a BBS posting, containing a program in UU format.
Using any text editor, remove everything above the "begin", and everything
below the "end" (but don't remove THEM!), and save it in FOO.UUE (just an
example!)
Then type the DOS command UUDECODE FOO.UUE and a new file will be created
whose name was in the "begin" line of the UU file.
Note: There was a UUDECODE.EXE on Goodies Disk #3, but it had bugs. This
one seems to work better.
If your computer can't use UUDECODE, don't despair; check out Jan Brittenson's
UUD program on this disk; it runs right on the HP 48 itself!
